Gerald A. Dust B.A., L.L.B.
A graduate of the University of Western Ontario in Economics and Business Administration, Mr. Dust completed his law degree at Queen's University in Kingston. Mr. Dust's practice is broad-based, including residential and commercial real estate, leasing, business law, wills and powers of attorney, estates, and estate planning. He also serves as the firm's managing partner. Mr. Dust has distinguished himself as an active member of the community. Among many other community activities to his credit, he incorporated and was a founding director of the Cumberland Chamber of Commerce (now the Orléans Chamber of Commerce), was a founding member of the Navan Curling Club, served on the City of Cumberland Mayor's Task Force on Economic Development, co-chaired the East Region Fund-Raising Committee for the Orléans YM/YWCA, served on the Ottawa-Carleton Disaster Relief Committee after the Ice Storm of 1998, sat for many years on the Public Advisory Board for the revitalization of St. Joseph Boulevard, and sat on the Board of Directors of the Ottawa Congress Centre for three years. He is currently a member of the Carleton County Law Association's Real Estate Committee, the Law Society of Upper Canada's Working Group on Real Estate and Lawyers Advisory Board for Brookfield Relocation Services. His many business affiliations include membership in the Business Club d'Orléans and the Orléans Chamber of Commerce. In 1998 he received the President's Award of Merit from the Cumberland Chamber of Commerce (now the Orléans Chamber of Commerce) in recognition of his many contributions to the Orléans Community. In October of 2002, he was voted "Professional Advisor of the Year" in the local People's Choice Awards. In November of 2009, he received the "Chamber Champion Award" for long-term service to the community from the Orléans Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Dust is currently serving as chair of the Orléans fund-raising committee for the YMCA/YWCA "Strengthening the Heart of our Community Campaign", reprising a role that he performed when the Orléans Y was originally constructed. The goal of the Orléans committee is to raise $1 million towards the project which will see the addition of two pools, a gymnasium, a Kids Zone, Conditioning, Community and Education Rooms, and a Licensed Child Care at a total cost of $7,000,000. A resident of Navan, Ontario since 1990, Mr. Dust and his wife Lise are proud parents of daughter Melissa and son Nick both of whom reside with their spouses and children in the Ottawa area. Mr. Dust is an avid curler and golfer. He is a member of the Navan Curling Club. Mr. Dust is comfortable dealing with his clients in either English or French. |
